Halsey – “Now Or Never” | Review

Halsey is back with the first taste of her upcoming album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, with the synth-laden, “Now Or Never.”

Halsey has had quite the year, hasn’t she? Conquering the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 consecutive weeks with The Chainsmokers on smash hit, “Closer – deservedly or not is for another post.

You wouldn’t be human if you weren’t worried that Halsey would sell out and change her sound after such a monumental success – luckily for us, she hasn’t.

The mid-tempo track picks up right where she left off with Badlands – but it doesn’t quite pack the punch that the said album delivered.

Tracks like “Colors” seemed to almost take over your body and make you move, same with “New Americana”. These tracks were dreamy and inspiring, and most importantly uplifting.

“Now Or Never” is by no means a bad track, but it doesn’t make you feel the way you want to feel when you listen to a Halsey track.

However, the visuals are compelling enough to make up for the track. It’s slightly weird, but the imagery links to the album and single cover, so hopefully this era will have a lot of continuity.

Check out the track below and let us know what you think in the comments!
