Grace Mitchell has stormed her way to take our Song of the Week with her energetic new single, “Now.”
Mitchell is just great isn’t she?! Her last single, “Kids (Ain’t All Right),” was moody, indie/rock-tinged track that completely suited her song (and if this site was operating then, it would have been our Song of the Week). But before that, her songs were synth-laden tracks, just like “Now.”
Her new single carries the moody vibes from “Kids,” but rather than going for a full rock affair, it sticks to more indie-pop vibes, before the chorus hits, and feels like a less epic Florence and The Machine track – and that’s a very loose reference.
That’s probably the most compelling thing about Mitchell, she doesn’t really compare to anybody, she, and her music, run in their own lane!
“Now” takes over your body, it will literally lift you from your seat and make you move. The first time I heard this, I was having my hair dyed, and I couldn’t sit still – to the annoyance of my mother.
Grace Mitchell, I’m waiting for an album, girl!
