Ruth B. fully encompasses the hurt in love on her new single, “If This Is Love.”
You might recognise Ruth’s voice from Vine (remember the six months that Vine was huge?) where she covered songs, but since then she’s gone on to release an EP, The Intro, and even got her debut album coming out in May, called Safe Haven.
Pop is full of ballads, especially pop ballads discussing love and heartbreak, so it’s hard to make a splash when you release one.
Ruth has managed to create a song that, lyrically, isn’t original, but make it sound original.
Love is a bitch, and sometimes the person you love, and who loves you, the most can tear you pieces.
If this is love, why does it break me down, why do you break me down?
Her voice is soft and glides over the simple production, the high notes that she can reach hits you right in the heart, it takes you back to the times where you felt her pain – whether with an ex or your current partner.
This track is simply beautiful, in a truly heartbreaking way.
