TLC – “Haters” | Review

TLC sound uncharacteristically like followers rather than trailblazers on their new single, “Haters.”

So, TLC are now officially on the road to their final, fan-financed album, and after lead single, “Way Back,” it all looked positive – we just wish it stayed that way.

There are two big problems with this track; the first being that, production-wise, it sounds just like Nicki Minaj‘s “Marylin Monroe,” like, not just a little bit, literally identical!

The second is that, lyrically, it’s a far cry from what we all come to expect from TLC. The band was trailblazers for their unique content, like on “Waterfall” and their ultimate sass on “No Scrubs” – this is just another “Beautiful” or “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)” self-love track.

Not saying that this track is terrible, in fact, if it wasn’t TLC, it would be great – even for a Minaj-production knock-off – but for a group, as experienced as TLC, it’s a letdown.

Not to be a hater on “Haters,” but we need more!
