You’ll have Ji Nilsson‘s new single, “Proud,” stuck in your head, not only for days but for the rest of summer.
I don’t know why it still surprises me – every time I listen to an amazing song, the artist or band always seem to come from Sweden – Sweden need to have the country equivalent to a knighthood in honour of making perfect pop music!
Nilsson continues her track record of making catchy and sonically unique tracks with her brand new summer ready track, “Proud.”
The song slowly builds from atmospheric echoes before a rousing beat rushes towards a laidback, beach perfect pop song that would be perfect to listen to with a cocktail in hand.
The beat continues to evolve throughout, adding different elements that in parts become a harsh dance track that wouldn’t be lost in the clubs!
Yes, the song has some questionable lyrics like “the boys always call you shorty, but I’m just gonna call you hunny,” but Nilsson’s effortless delivery and the careless vibe of the track allows you to forgive such a little cringe.
