Song Of The Week: Gabrielle Aplin – “Waking Up Slow” | Review

Gabrielle Aplin is finally changing up her acoustic-folky sound and opened her heart to pop, and her new single, “Waking Up Slow,” is a bloody masterpiece.

We all know Aplin has an amazing voice, even if your only memory of her was for the John Lewis Christmas Ad, singing “Power Of Love.”

Well, since she’s continuing similar songs to that to basically keep fans happy, now, she’s not regaining the production in and letting pop take over!!

“Waking Up Slow” is a Carly Rae Jepson style, balls to the wall style pop song.

It builds during the first verse ready for the retro style, yet still modern synthy chorus that just makes you want to move till you can’t move anymore!

What makes the track so great? Have you fucking heard it?

It effortless bops, it doesn’t try too hard to be amazing like a lot of big artists do – it’s just a song that started on guitar that’s led to this perfectness.

Check out the track below and let us know what you think in the comments!
