Cali – “Baptized” | Review

Cali brings throwback vibes with her brilliant debut single, “Baptized.”

It looks like relocating to Dublin has worked wonders for Cali and producer, Misreid, as the sound that the pair have worked on has all the signs off fabulousness that can only bode well for upcoming releases from the singer!

The retro, soul-feeling production has a sense of drama about it, which instantly draws you in – remember the days of Duffy before she went a bit crap? It’s reminiscent of that style.

Cali’s soulful vocals work perfectly with the modern-soul vibes of the production, along with the slight vocal distortion, it completely adds to the overall feel of the current sounding, throwback track.

On the track, Cali states; “’Baptized‘ to me is a song about despair. It’s about the moment where you stand alone with yourself and are stripped of everything you’re made of, and all you have left is yourself. The good, the bad, and the ugly. That moment where you’re desperate to be a better version of yourself and all you can do is pray for transformation.”

She definitely captures the drama of such despair in the dramatic cut!

  1. This is a gem. I’ve had it on repeat ever since I first heard. Cali’s vocals are really catchy, unique and land quite nicely on the ears. The lyrical content of this song is deep and relatable. It’s without a doubt a fresh break from everything else out there in today’s music. This is truly inspiring music. It’s a winner!!!
