The legendary, P!nk will receive the Michael Jackson Vanguard award at this years MTV Video Music Awards – long overdue in our opinion.
The star may be into her 17th year of her illustrious career, but she shows no signs of letting go of the successful grip she’s always had as she battles for number one in the U.K this week with “What About Us,” as well as the recent news of another award to add to her mantle piece.
Won by the likes of Rihanna, Beyoncé, Madonna and Justin Timberlake over years, the award takes into consideration their music videos, songs and fashion impact on pop culture of their careers.
P!nk is set to release her seventh album, Beautiful Trauma, on October 13th, a long time since her 2000 release of her R&B beginnings, “Can’t Take Me Home.”
The artist has constantly changed her look, sounds, and lyrical direction over the years without really falling from her pedestal, and even now, while many of her peers are turning into more ‘album artists’, she’s still killing it at both – not to mention her world tours!
The Vanguards Award is about more than just music videos, so bear that in mind when questioning P!nks right to the award – because people get questioned every year!
P!nk’s pop comeback is right on track!
