Ghena – “Taboo” | Review

Ghena talks of the ‘destructive drug’ that is love on her debut solo single, “Taboo.”

To say Ghena has been through a lot to get this point is a bit of an understatement! She’s moved to a few different countries for love and music, been in an abusive marriage (and thankfully divorced) and been in a seven-piece Chinese band that appeared on Shakira’s “Waka Waka before finally moving back to Sweden and being noticed as the star she is – quite the road right?!

This rough road has shaped Ghena, and being exposed to so many cultures has impacted her sound, you can hear the pure pop influences from Sweden as well as the English and Arabic elements she’s picked up during her travels.

“Taboo” shows Ghena’s fun and playful side over a synthy, upbeat production that is so infectious you’ll be dancing along to it from the first beat drop.

The melody of this song is simply undeniable, it’s like it’s been crafted to get wedged in your head – I assure you, you’ll be singing along for days!

Bare in mind, Ghena arranged, written, recorded and co-produced this single – this girl is talented, so watch out pop world.
