She has left us waiting a while, but Katy Perry has finally released the visuals for her latest Nicki Minaj assisted track, “Swish Swish” – and it’s not great!
Perry’s Witness era might not be her most fruitful in terms of chart hits, but it is allowing her to take her time and put a lot of time (tonnes, judging by the wait) into the promo for her singles.
The latest video is jam packed full of famous people, cheap gags and a bit of green screen.
Gaten Matarazzo, Jenna Ushkowitz, Dexter Mayfield, Christine Sydelko and Russel Horning are just a few of the names that appear in the video.
The visuals basically pit Perry (the Tigers) against the Sheep (presumably Taylor Swift) in a basketball match where Perry and the rest of the team are pretty shit but end up winning as the underdogs after Minaj’s words of advice – that’s the simple way of explaining it.
Minaj not only stole the show on the audio, but she steals it here (minus the shitty green screen, why couldn’t you show up, bitch?!), she’s sassy, the story is clean and simple – it just works.
But Perry could soon be outshined by the star she’d fought with for years, that’s right, Swift is set to release her single any moment now.
To be honest, the video is kinda crap. I can see where they were going with it, but it just doesn’t work out.
We’ll just sit here with our popcorn to see if Swift brings up the feud on her new track!
