Sam Smith bares his soul on his soulful comeback track, “Too Good At Goodbyes.”
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Smith, in fact, it’s been two whole years since Bond theme, “Writings On The Wall,” and to be honest, we’ve been missing the heartbreaking ballads.
But does “Goodbyes” meet our expectations?
Well, kind of.
Smith does the job in the fact that he delivers a signature style song with a fantastic vocal that he knows his fans will eat up, as well as pouring a tonne of emotion into it which will make the hardest of men tear up – but that’s about it.
After a couple of years away, we expected some sort of sonic shift, even if it was a slight change we’d be happy, but this could have easily been on a re-release of “In The Lonely Hour.”
We’re here for the gospel influences, for now, we’re just hoping he brings more on the yet un-titled parent album – Timberland is meant to have produced a track, so we cross our fingers.
