Nadine – “Go To Work” | Review

Former Girls Aloud star, Nadine, is back for her second solo effort with the ok-ish, “Go To Work.”

The solo road for most of Girls Aloud (obviously no Cheryl) has been a rocky one, Sarah Harding failed, Kimberly Walsh was partially successful with her theatrical pop debut and Nicola Roberts amazing, if commercially unsuccessful album – that’s without the bomb that was Nadine’s debut!

Let’s get one thing straight, this track is nothing like her brilliant debut single, “Insatiable,” but also not as bad as her debut album of the same name.

Arguably having the best vocal out of the girls (although Roberts showed on her solo effort she has an incredibly strong set of pipes), we expected a big vocal moment on her new single, but it’s missing – not even on the bridge, c’mon Nadine!

The worst thing about this song is that it just has no point, it’s literally about getting your man up to go to work and get the money in order to treat you right – it’s the 21st century!

The hook is weak, the lyrics are weak, the whole sound is modern yet sounds dated at the exact same time – it’s not a disaster, but it’s by no means a success.
