Amanda Mair – “Rush” | Review

Amanda Mair gives us our haunted, twisted fantasy on her new single, “Rush.”

Mair’s self-titled debut album was more indie-pop leaning with a few piano ballads thrown in the mix, well, in the five years since the release she’s decided to embrace full-on pop realness – and we’re living for it.

“Rush” opens with an atmospheric piano, much like some of her previous sounds on her debut, but soon a crushing synth enters the mix and changes your life for three minutes and 24 seconds.

The synth isn’t even a complicated mesh of different tones or mixed with other sounds, but when you blend Mair’s demanding vocal, the ambiance of the track alongside the hard-hitting beat, it all comes together to create pop magic.

It’s been a long time since her last full-length release, so here’s hoping we get a second soon!
