Rita Ora‘s new single, “Anywhere,” is a mixed bag of greatness and ‘meh’-ness.
You wouldn’t be alone if you thought Ora’s comeback was going to flop, after many years away from music in today’s fast-paced music industry, such a long break is career suicide – but following “You Song,” a top three single and one of the best selling singles of the year, as well as “Lonely Together,” it seems as though Ora’s return is a triumphant one.
“Anywhere,” in most parts, continues the run that she’s on, but the first two choruses feel a bit lazy.
The verses stick with the laidback slightly electro (and very pop) vibes like we found on her comeback, but the choruses feature a lazy vocal loop over a dance-breakdown that just feels totally unneeded.
The final chorus pulls everything together as Ora sings the chorus over it and it’s great – why couldn’t the whole song be like that.
