DJ Snake and Max Frost have got it totally wrong on their new collaboration, “Broken Summer.”
Snake was one of the biggest producers around a few years ago, but while his crown has slipped, he’s still a powerful force – not that you’d get that on this track.
“Broken Summer” sounds like a track that missed the tracklisting for Calvin Harris’s latest album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 – and not in the Carly Rae Jepson way that “Cut To The Feeling” was.
The laidback vibes just don’t sound like a natural fit for Snake, especially when you put it together with his last song, “A Different Way,” a tropical-house track – which surprisingly also didn’t sound like a Snake song, maybe we’re after his older, harsher sound.
Frost’s voice is also auto-tuned within an inch of its life, and that’s just a shame because he has a pretty amazing voice.
Basically, the whole thing doesn’t work for us!
