Kelly Rowland returns to a more familiar sound with her new single, “Crown.”
Towards the end of 2018, Rowland released brag-filled “Kelly” which wasn’t the biggest earworm, but the trap track sufficed as we waited for something that we could really stick our teeth into.
Well, “Crown” is definitely that song!
The classic R&B sound is more the sound we’ve come to expect from the star, slick melodies and vocal that are instantly familiar.
It’s a track that would be totally comfortable on the epic Ms. Kelly, the album that really made Rowland more than a former Destiny’s Child star.
Lyrically the track is a female empowerment anthem, telling the world to wear their natural hair and be proud of it.
My hair, my crown/Wear it how you want, girl/Show it off, go girl
The track definitely ups our excitement for her upcoming album, which she has said WILL be out this year – five long years since “Talk A Good Game.”
