Sofi Tukker – “Fantasy” | Review

“Fantasy” is yet another brilliant single from the duo that makes up jungle-pop extraordinaire, Sofi Tukker.

Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern are what everyone in pop music should be aspiring to be right now, not to say everyone should sound like them, but everyone should be taking the risks and experimenting with different sounds like the duo do – it would make for a much more exciting scene.

“Fantasy” is possibly Tukker’s most straightforward track to date with a very euro-pop sound that would win the Eurovision Song Contest – which isn’t a read, by the way, Eurovision has produced some brilliant pop songs over the last couple of years.

The track builds with synthy, erratic beats and pulsing undercurrents before the 90s style, club-ready beats drown the listener in a nostalgia.

“Fantasy” reveals what the whole track is running towards in the final minute where Hawley-Weld’s vocals truly come alive and the production reaches a sonic confetti exploding climax.

Following their amazing EP, Treehouse, last year, it seems Tukker are going from strength to strength.
