Silver Sphere boggled our mind for a second on her new single, “boys in bands” – but we can’t get enough of it!
At the age of 19, Sphere is just starting out on her musical journey, but already only three singles into her career, we can tell she’s going to be a strong force!
Her bio on Spotify simple says; “what’s up! i’m silver. i’m a 19 year old in chicago who loves pop music and breaking my own heart” – and the latter part is what influences her music and gives it a raw emotional edge.
“boys in bands” opens with a male voice, seemingly on a phone, setting the scene for the band boy, before industrial like synth beats come crashing in.
It’s the industrial, Cashmere Cat-like beats that boggled my mind on first listen, I just didn’t expect them but once I got my mind around them I instantly fell for it.
The inclusion of the typical indie boy on the phone really helps tell the story with the usual “it’s not you, it’s me” and “it’s been great getting to know you” – we all know this asshole.
The Chicago-girls songwriting is silly strong, you’re instantly feeling the anger and annoyance she carries, but she also delivers them in an amusing way.
“You tryna play me like a fucking Bright Eyes song.”
We’re excited to see where Sphere’s career goes from here!
