Carly Rae Jepsen – “Julien” | Review

Carly Rae Jepsen, the saviour of pure pop music, has dropped a new taster from her upcoming album, Dedicated, called “Julien.”

We’ve already heard three samples from the stars fourth album, “Party For One,” “Now That I Found You” and “No Drug Like Me,” sadly none of which set our worlds alight the same way the entirety of Emotions did – that’s not to say any of them were bad!

“Julien” is a mid-tempo bop that has a distinctly 80s groove to it like much of Jepsen’s more recent work.

Everything about the track is great, her vocals, the throwback style production and the overall vibe to it…so why do we not get the same buzz as singles such as “Run Away With Me?”

Well…maybe because they’re pretty similar.

They’re different enough for us to see why they’re on a completely different album, but they just don’t give us the life that we got back in 2015.

It could also be that our expectation are so high for this album, maybe too high – just like with Lady Gaga and ARTPOP.
