FKA twigs – “Cellophane” | Review

FKA twigs may have made us wait three years for some new music, but my god has she delivered on the emotionally raw new single, “Cellophane.”

I’m just going to say it, twigs is one of Britain’s best musical exports, she can sing, dance, act, model – all as well as each other. She disappeared for a while, too long, but we’re not going to complain if she’s going to be giving us these kinds of experiences.

“Cellophane” is moving from start to finish, and if you don’t feel anything, are you even human.

Taking away the more electronic side that we hear in twigs music, a simple piano drives the song alongside light synths and clunks in the background while twigs vocals reach higher than we’ve ever heard her reach before, and it truly touches your heart.

The non-perfect delivery only adds to the emotion of the track, singing “why won’t you do it for me, when all I do is for you….and I don’t want to have to share our love.”

The song is moving enough, but when you watch the music video it leaves you totally speechless and honestly, if you’re a crier, you’re going to be drained!

twigs pole dances (after spending months practising) with emotion, which is something I never thought I’d say, before coming face to face with herself in some sort of metal dragon form, after kicking it she begins to fall into another world…for some kind of rebirth.

The explanation of the video doesn’t do it justice so watch it below and let us know what you think in the comments!
