After a few weeks of teasing, Taylor Swift has dropped her new Brendon Urie assisted single, “ME!”
It only seems like yesterday that Swift dropped her electronic-inspired album, Reputation, and now she’s ready to offer us even more music, but in doing so, she might have just released her worst single, possibly ever.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t a fan of Reputation, I found it pretty boring, minus, “Gorgeous” and “…Ready For It?”, so I was looking forward to seeing what she was going to offer us on this era being as both her more pop eras were so different from each other.
“ME!” returns to the more sweet pop sound that she played with on 1989, but it doesn’t have the same greatness that the album had…nowhere near.
The lyrics are the cringiest thing you’ve heard in a hot minute, “Hey, kids!
Spelling is fun!/Girl, there ain’t no I in “team”/But you know there is a “me,” only just getting away with it because the song is so campy.
Swift and Urie’s voices actually sound pretty good together, it’s just a shame it’s on this track!
The record feels more like a soundtrack song than a lead single…or at least a song for a spelling bee.
