Magdalena Bay – “Only If You Want It” | Review

Magdalena Bay once again serve us some serious throwback vibes on their new single, “Only If You Want It.”

The pop duo, compromised of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin, have been slaying our lives over the last few months with a pretty constant stream of single that all transport us to a different era.

“Only If You Want It” is no different, it’s sugary sweet vibes, along with the clear 80s and 90s throwbacks makes it a perfect, hypnotic early summer jam.

Bay always draw inspiration from past decades, but they never sound dated, in fact, it’s always an extremely current sound that sounds like nobody else in the pop-stratosphere.

There are clear early-Madonna and Britney influences here, but rather than being blatant and copying, they are obviously just influences in which their own talent transforms into what makes the duo Magdalena Bay.

Oh, and just to make the song a bit weird for you, this is the description on the YouTube video…

Sexual cannibalism [sek-shoo-uhl kan-uh-buh-liz-uhm] n. 1. When a female cannibalizes her mate prior to, during, or after copulation.

So, there you go, an obsession to the highest degree.
