Lewis Capaldi – “Hold Me While You Wait” | Review

Lewis Capaldi looks set to claim his second number one with new single, “Hold Me While You Wait.”

“Someone You Loved” has gone on to be a mega-hit, sending Capaldi to arena tours, probably brought his debut album (the brilliant names Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent) to a closer date, and made him a force in British music – also made me search his Instagram and welcomed me to his HILARIOUS stories (go follow him!).

“Hold Me While You Wait” goes with the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ kinda approach, which you can hardly blame him or the record label, “Someone You Loved” has been streamed over 165 million times and has sold upwards of 600,000 copies.

The piano-led ballad once again shows off Capaldi’s brilliantly raw vocals which when looking at him and watching his stories, you would never believe come out of him.

Another reason why a ballad works for Capaldi is that they show off his songwriting…

“Hold me while you wait/I wish that I was good enough (Hold me while you wait)/If only I could wake you up (Hold me while you wait)/My love, my love, my love, my love/Won’t you stay a while? (Hold me while you wait)”

I actually prefer this track to his previous chat topper, maybe it’s because I’ve heard it a million times, but I feel there’s more to get your teeth into here, in terms of both production and vocal.
