Lewis Blissett – Sick Thoughts | Review

“Lewis Blissett makes quite the impact with his debut single, “Sick Thoughts.”

If you didn’t watch the Voice Kids UK, there’s a strong chance you’ve seen Blissett online on many of the cover videos that have gone viral, most notably Ariana Grande‘s “No Tears Left To Cry” and Billie Eilish‘s “idontwannabeyouanymore.”

At 15, Blissett’s YouTube showed more promise and potential than most other budding music stars, so we’ve been patiently waiting for a debut single – and “Sick Thoughts” doesn’t disappoint!

The track is slick electro-pop song that’s carried by a pulsating undercurrent before otherworldly synths come crashing on the chorus – something that you’d expect on an Eilish single.

Often, young singers go for a light, more universal friendly sound to appeal to the younger audiences, but Blissett knows what he wants to do and where he wants to go.

The cover art features comments (largely homophobic) that have been thrown at Blissett on his social media (where he’s got a huge following), and lyrically he turns the hateful comments back on the haters.

“We might just be unkind/But that’s just how we’re designed/You got me so fucked up/Think about you most of the time…Sick thoughts/Look what you’ve caused/You’ve got ’em too.”

This young star could possibly one of the UK’s next big exports, we hope the next single isn’t too far in the future.
