Charli XCX – “Blame It On Your Love” featuring Lizzo | Review

Two of pops biggest names, Charli XCX and Lizzo, join forces on their summer-ready new single, ” Blame It On Your Love.”

We’ve been waiting for a proper new album from Charli for way too many years, but with the promise she’ll be delivering one soon, she treats us with this bop with the new golden girl of pop, Lizzo.

It’s been quite the year for Lizzo, with singles she’s released years ago becoming hits (as they deserved to back in 2017) and going on to release her debut album.

“Blame It On Your Love” is one of those tracks that sound right – like it was written in the stars for this to happen.

The dance-breakdown here does sound dated, I’ll admit, but it just makes sense to be here, keeping us thoroughly in 2019 with nods to past pop trends – also, please tell me you hear Amerie “1 Thing” in the opening few notes?!

It’s no surprise here that Charli sounds perfect, she is possibly one of the best, and most versatile, pop stars on this planet – however, it is a surprise that Lizzo sounds so at home.

Lizzo’s sound is very unique and cheeky, so I was nervous to see how she sounded on a poppy pop track, and she sounds amazing, her brilliant adlibs and infectious energy fit right in.

Is this track going to change the pop landscape? No, of course not, but it’s one hell of a bop while we wait for Charli’s album that will probably change the world we live in.
