Ally Brooke – “Lips Don’t Lie” featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie | Review

Ally Brooke serves serious throwback R&B vibes with her new single, “Lips Don’t Lie.”

Breaking the curse of going solo after being in a girl group is a hard one, and that’s one that Brooke and some other members of Fifth Harmony are struggling with, especially when Camila Cabello has made such an impact.

“Lips Don’t Lie” for starters, has nothing to do with Shakira‘s “Hips Don’t Lie,” which is a little bit disappointing, to be honest.

The track offers us some old-school J.Lo vibes, back from her “Jenny From The Block” days and we’re fully here for it.

Once you get over the whiplash from being whipped back to the early ’00s, the old-school throwback is a total jam!

Brooke’s vocals delicately weave in out a breathy tone and head voice and glide nicely along with the hip-hop-tinged R&B production.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, a name that I hate more than anything else on this planet, actually serves a pretty great, if not a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ verse.

We hope this lifts Brooke off the ground and sets a path towards a debut album full of these throwback jams!
